The Eastern Long Island Police Pipes & Drums [ELIPPD] have been in existence since 1990. We are comprised mostly of Law Enforcement officers from the five easternmost townships in Suffolk County on Long Island, NY. We currently have a membership of approximately 50 people spanning an area from the Bronx to East Hampton. Any Law Enforcement Officer can become a member of the ELIPPD. Civilians are also welcome, provided that the current civilian membership does not exceed 50%.

 

Time Line

February 1990 - The band is formed under the name "Southampton Town Police Emerald Society Pipes & Drums"
March 1st, 1990 - The band holds its first meeting at the Southampton Town Police PBA house, Speonk
1991 - The band is renamed the "Eastern Long Island Law Enforcement Emerald Society Pipe Band"
May 1991 - The band's first performance is the Suffolk County Police Chiefs' Memorial Service at the Suffolk County Center, Riverhead [We performed in police department uniforms]
June 1991 - Our first band uniforms arrive
July 4th, 1991 - The band's first parade - Independence Day Parade at Southampton Village
February 1992 - The band is incorporated as the "Eastern Long Island Police Pipes & Drums"
July 22nd, 1994 - The band is designated as a not for profit organization
March 17th, 1996 - Our first march up Fifth Avenue in the New York City St. Patrick's Day parade
November 12th, 1997 - The band loses one of it's own in Dave Seiniger - aged 68
August 19th, 2001 - Hunter Mountain Bagpipe championship - Grade V pipe band - 1st place!
March 17th, 2005 - Our first march in Savannah, Georgia's historical St. Patrick's Day parade
July 27th, 2005 - The band loses one of it's own in Ryan Lynch - aged 34
